NEW ISN'T ALWAYS BETTER. I was using a Samsung SyncMaster 914V 19-inch TFT-LCD monitor on my old PC. It was very bright and clear. I upgraded to an HP G71-340US notebook with LED BrightView screen and it was horrible! On the brighter settings the screen has a WHITISH overcast/shadow and on the darker settings it has a GRAYISH overcast/shadow. It's like a gloomy cloudiness similar to when you suffer form very dry eyes. Also, all of the text /font/etc is tiny and I have to permanently zoom in at 125% or 150% on every single webpage, which was never necessary on my old PC. I cannot get used to these new "superior" laptop screens and I'm thinking of hooking up the old monitor to it and unplugging it whenever I have to take my laptop on the go. It's a huge strain on my eyes and very depressing to look at.
